Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Palliative Medicine

Florida Hospital is seeking dynamic and hardworking Palliative Medicine physicians to join our team within our system in Orlando. Florida Hospital has a growing physician-led program that will give you the opportunity to work with our existing palliative care team.  We direct inpatient consultation services at a tertiary hospital with a dedicated inpatient unit, with plans to roll-out outpatient clinics. This position comes with opportunities for mentorship, scholarship, working with team-based faculty, and a palliative fellowship. Team members include dedicated advanced practitioners, chaplains, child-life specialists, a pharmacist and case-managers. You will provide inpatient palliative consultation services to patients in a hospital setting. In addition, you will hold family meetings to discuss and clarify goals of care, as well as provide guidance and oversee symptom management in the inpatient and ambulatory setting.  This program emphasizes patient and family-centered care and collaboration with a team of physicians from every specialty. There is an opportunity to work with residents and fellows.

The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is seeking a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to focus their clinical experience and expertise in the Cardiac ICU. This physician will be part of our larger pediatric intensive care group at Florida Hospital for Children which consists of approximately eight physicians and four advanced practice providers. 

Responsibilities of the new physician will include:  clinical time in our CICU (10 beds) with a smaller amount of clinical time in the Med/Surg ICU (22 beds).  Physician would also participate in the provision of the sedation services, as the Peds ICU group provides sedation.   We have an active Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program, a pediatric residency program (just launched in 2013) with 6 residents per year and clinical research opportunities.

The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is looking for a Pediatric Endocrinologist to lead our team and continue to develop our outstanding program in Orlando, Florida.  The ideal candidate would have several years of leadership experience and a proven track record of programmatic building (especially in diabetes), education, and physician development.  This position is mostly clinical with a portion of administrative time.  

Responsibilities of the new physician leader will include:  high volume outpatient clinics with a wide variety of patients from age 0 – 18, outreach clinics (currently providing care in three locations) and inpatient coverage in equal rotation with other group members. It is also possible to develop a subspecialty niche depending on physician’s interest, and an interest in metabolic diseases is desirable but not essential.  The Pediatric Endocrinology program has a dedicated area for hormone testing and we offer the full spectrum of dynamic hormonal testing and infusions. We have a large diabetes program with staffing for two nurse CDEs and two dietitian CDEs.  We also have a social worker.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and hardworking neonatologist to join our group at the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children located in downtown Orlando. Come and join an exciting team of 17 neonatologists, 4 Neonatal Hospitalists and 19 neonatal nurse practitioners.  We recently expanded our NICU into a newly built, beautiful, state-of-the-art facility in 2017.

We currently have 102 neonatal beds at Florida Hospital for Children. We also have three other Level II NICU’s in hospitals around the Orlando area, which are staffed by our own Neonatologists, who are part of the same medical group.  We have 150 total neonatal beds in our system.

Our regional network includes an OB delivery volume of approximately 15,000 births per year. Over the last couple of years, we have expanded our Maternal Fetal Medicine program and Congenital Heart surgery program and have built a pediatric and neonatal ECMO program. We have a dedicated Neonatal transport team and are supported by experienced Pediatric Subspecialists. We are very active in Quality Improvement programs and clinical research, with several multi-center extramurally funded research projects. We also have a very active Neonatal simulation program.

We have an independent General Pediatric Residency programs. Our residents rotate through the NICU. We take an active participation in their training and education.

Requirements:  The new physician joining the group should be board certified in pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.  Experience post fellowship is preferred but not essential.  Interest and demonstrated experience in clinical research, Quality Improvement projects and ECMO will be desirable attributes.

Physical Medicine and Rehab, Pain Management

The Spine Health Institute is looking for a dynamic and team-oriented Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician to be part of our established destination program.  This position is for a fellowship-trained pain medicine physician to help continue to build and grow the practice in different markets around the North Orlando area, which currently includes three locations for the Spine Health Institute.   The new physician would have the ability to shape his/her practice based on subspecialty interests. 

With the leadership of the medical director, Dr. Chetan Patel, this physician will have the opportunity to provide the best care and treatment options for patients with neck and back pain.  We have full multidisciplinary services at the Spine Health Institute that include rehab and sports medicine, wellness, psychology, pain medicine, procedures, and outcomes based research.  The position would be based predominantly in an outpatient setting for patient consultations, EMGs, and injections.  Our philosophy is to offer a fully coordinated, comprehensive whole-person approach to neck and back pain, including advanced diagnostic services as well as non-surgical care options, interventional and surgical treatments.

  • ACGME fellowship training in Pain Medicine.

The Florida Hospital Transplant Institute is seeking a dynamic, fellowship-trained transplant pulmonologist to join our lung program on the thoracic transplant team.   The new physician would help continue to develop our CMS approved transplant program with full hospital support.   Physician would have the benefit of cross coverage for transplant call and work with a comprehensive team including surgeons, coordinators, dieticians, pharmacists, therapists and social workers.    

Requirements of the position include: 

  • Board Certification is required in Pulmonology and Critical Care.
  • Previous lung transplant experience at a UNOS certified program
  • UNOS eligibility or certification.

As a team member of the Lung Transplant Program, this physician would have the opportunity to continue to help build a nationally leading program along with our two cardiothoracic transplant surgeons.  Florida Hospital has already completed twelve lung transplants since October 2015.  Volumes are expected to continue to increase substantially over the next several years.  We are the only lung transplant program in our designated service area.  In addition, Florida Hospital owns and operates the local organ procurement organization, TransLife, which procured 32 lungs in 2015.  Our median wait time for transplant is four days.  We have a one year graft survival of 95%. 

A full commitment from hospital administration along with a large referral network and a local OPO makes this a very intriguing and appealing opportunity for a physician with a passion in lung transplant.

An active ECMO program has been established to support bridge to lung  transplant  (ambulatory ECMO), bridge to recovery for acute lung injury (ARDS), support for cardiogenic shock and eCPR.  Approximately 8-10 deployments are performed per month.

Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute and Florida Hospital Medical Group are seeking a dynamic and energetic pulmonary hypertension specialist to join The Center for Pulmonary Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease at Florida Hospital Orlando.

This would be the second physician in the Pulmonary Hypertension Program, joining with Dr. James Tarver, Medical Director. The new physician would share responsibility for the evaluation and management of all types of patients with Pulmonary Hypertension referred to the program, and will be required to work collaboratively with other health care providers in our Advanced Lung Disease program, our Transplant Institute, and the hospital system.

In addition to shared responsibility for the management of all patients in the PH program, the physician would also have primary responsibility to develop and oversee the CTEPH program. This will require, in addition to experience managing patients with all types of Pulmonary Hypertension, familiarity with pulmonary angiography, lung ventilation/perfusion imaging, Pulmonary Thrombo-endarterectomy, and Pulmonary angioplasty, though actual performance of these procedures by the physician will not be required. It will require close coordination with and development of the Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Intervention departments, as well as strong organizational and leadership skills. The physician will be expected foster strong relations with community doctors while developing and expanding a CTEPH screening program within the institution and its satellite campuses. 

Requirements:  Board Certified or Board Eligible Pulmonologist or Cardiologist with experience managing patients with pulmonary hypertension and experience managing all forms of PH therapy, including parenterally administered therapies. High caliber, quality focused, innovative physicians should apply. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
