Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Certified Nurse Midwife

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Hospital-Based Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)/ Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) functions in the specialty area of obstetric medicine in an expanded role to manage a caseload of patients with consultation, collaboration and general supervision from a physician in a hospital-based role.  This care is provided within the ARNP's specialty area and setting, and scope of practice. Utilizing the extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology and physiology acquired, exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes and procedures.  The Hospital-Based ARNP is additionally involved in education, consultation and research at various levels.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluates pregnant and postpartum women in triage.
  • Performs the nursing duties related to midwifery including labor and delivery care, care after birth, and newborn care.
  • Educates women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved.  
  • Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings.
  • Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.
  • Serves as OB/GYN team member working closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
  • Emphasizes patient education, active participation, clear communication between the provider and the women, and an individualized health care experience.
  •  Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family.
  • Teaches patients about all aspects of an infant’s reaction to its environment including but not limited to breast feeding and bonding.  
  • Communicates and documents pertinent case information in a timely and thorough manner
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of midwifery principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods ensuring safe working environment for patient, family, and staff including using appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Knowledge of theories of family dynamics, mother-child attachment, parenting, and adult learning concepts.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
  • 1-3 years’ experience as midwife in hospital setting
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Masters Degree in Nursing or related field
  • Minimum three years of experience as RN; one year as midwife in hospital setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
  • 3 years’ experience as midwife in hospital setting

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Location: Winter Park, FL - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner

General Summary:
The ARNP or PA-C under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:
  • Performs physical examinations and evaluation of adult patients with diabetes, endocrine disorders and metabolic diseases Primarily in the clinic setting. 
  • Responsibilities will also include2 -3 days of Inpatient rounding at Florida Hospital Winter Park.  Number of days will be dependent on the census.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor(s) and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop a strong rapport with patients, family members, hospital employees and other health care providers
  • Must demonstrate excellence in patient focused medical care & delivery of care
  • Strong medical decision making skills are a must
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with availability for some evening and weekend call/coverage as practice needs dictate

  • Responsible for covering the inpatient service for the GI practice at Florida Hospital Orlando
  • Treating patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system liver functions and esophagus
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

General Summary:
The ARNP, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:
  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of oncology and Hematology patients within the clinic and hospital setting
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Treatment and management to a wide variety of cancers including but not limited to breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck, and urologic, along with chronic leukemia's and lymphomas
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Required: 1-3 years of experience as ARNP or PA-C in Hematology/Oncology
  • Covers Florida Hospital Celebration and Florida Hospital Kissimmee
  • Strong communication skills and strong medical decision-making skills are a must

The APP for this position would primarily work in Collaboration with:

Sarah George, MD, FACP a board-certified internal medicine, hematology and oncology physician that has been recognized by the American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Institute for her dedication and commitment to clinical research. Dr. George specializes in comprehensive care for breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and myeloproliferative disorders, offering patients a wide range of services, including diagnosis and treatment, administration of inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy, and pain and symptom control.

General Summary:

The ARNP or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of oncology patients within the Hospital and Clinic setting at Florida Hospital East Orlando off of Lake Underhill.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Candidate will see patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.  The hospital’s that might be covered for call will be Florida Hospital Altamonte, Orlando and East to help ensure patient care needs are met throughout the practice

  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed by the practice as night and weekend on-call responsibilities may be required

  • Performs admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures as may be required ie. central lines, arterial lines
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, etc.

  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Providing consistent high-quality patient care with the neurology team through inpatient and outpatient work
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

  • Rotating call on a monthly basis, including rounding one weekend a month at Florida Hospital for Children depending on census

Schedule is very flexible working 7 on 7 off.  
Example: Week 1 in the hospital 7am to 7pm.  Week 2- off.  Week 3 the APP will be taking night call- 7pm to 7am for one week but will only be taking phone call coverage from the comfort of home, not required to come into the hospital overnight.  Week 4 -Off.  Repeat..

  • Procedures performed/providing assistance with but not limited to: catheters, injections, cystoscopies
