Overview

Florida Hospital Medical Group is looking for a dynamic and energetic cardiology leader to develop a comprehensive cardiology group at Florida Hospital East Orlando (https://www.floridahospital.com/east-orlando).  This is a clinical and practice leadership position to help grow a new market in East Orlando in association with three other physicians.  As the Medical Director of Cardiology Services at Florida Hospital East Orlando, the first initiative will be to work with our core cardiologists at East Orlando on growth strategies, quality metrics, outcomes, community education and marketing, and other patient experience initiatives.  Approximate administrative time is 10 hours/week. 

Responsibilities will also include call coverage at the East Orlando hospital facility in rotation with practice partners and other community cardiology physicians.

The Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute is one of the busiest centers of its kind in the nation. We are a leading provider of cardiovascular and thoracic services among Medicare patients with national rankings that include: #1 in Cardiology volume, #1 in Vascular Surgery volume, #5 in Thoracic Surgery volume and #8 in Open Heart Surgery volume. The FH CVI is centered in a tertiary facility known as Florida Hospital Orlando with a newly opened Ginsburg Tower. This 15-story sanctuary of healing offers patients a full range of comprehensive heart and vascular care, including 12 hybrid operating rooms housing electrophysiology, vascular and invasive cardiology. 

Requirements for the positionBoard Certification in Internal Medicine with subspecialty board certification in Cardiovascular Disease.  At least five years practice experience with some leadership track record is also preferred.  High caliber, quality focused, innovative physicians should apply.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Hospital Description

Florida Hospital East Orlando, a 293-bed full service community hospital became part of the Adventist Health System in 1991. We are proud to serve approximately 180,000 patients annually, which include more than 16,500 inpatients and 79,330 outpatients at Florida Hospital East Orlando. In addition, our emergency visits totaled 120,665 in 2017.

As a part of one of the fastest growing communities in Central Florida, our hospital caters to the east Orange County population. This market consists of the popular, planned-communities of Waterford Lakes, Avalon Park and Lake Nona located adjacent to Medical City. East Orlando is also home to the University of Central Florida – the nation’s 2nd largest university. As our community continues to broaden, so does Florida Hospital East Orlando with our recent 200,000 square foot $80 million expansion project. It also has expanded Radiology, Imaging and Cardiopulmonary departments. Current expansion plans include the building of a second cath lab and remodel of the existing cath lab. Greater Orlando is a hub for higher education and is home to numerous colleges and universities including University of Central Florida (UCF), Rollins College, and Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. UCF is the 2nd largest university in the US and has a new and vibrant College of Medicine closely affiliated with Florida Hospital.
